| The
Gallery LEMIA ART was founded December l989, in Sitges, a coastal
town of the county of Barcelona (Catalunya) Spain, where it has had
three different showrooms so far. It is associated member of the Union
of Galleries of Art Catalunya from that same year, member nº 47.
|
 |
From
it beginnings, Lemia Art has dedicated itself to contemporary art, young
artists, and some already well established; being the first Gallery in
Sitges that, during the centennial of JOAN MIRO, presented a large exhibition
of his work as well as of ANTONI TAPIES, in collaboration with the Gallery
Maeght. Both artists were shown in Sitges for the first time with an extensive
and representative workshow. The Gallery also respresents many other artists
of the rest of Spain and Europe.
 |
During
the year 1996 Bartolomé Cerro Gutierrez, director of the gallery next
to the co-founder and resident artist of LEMIA ART, FRADOGO, worked
at setting up the PRIVATE FOUNDATION FRADOGO that the artist wanted
to constitute during his lifetime with the purpose of donating his
work to aid physically and mentally handicapped children as well as
to support and to help young artists. |
At
the moment Lemia Art continues developing its activities in its current
home with individual exhibitions and participating in national and international
events, considering it important to be represented at the National Art
fairs developing in different Spanish cities such as Valencia, Barcelona,
Marbella, Ibiza, Santander as well as International Art fairs like Art
Chicago, Art Miami, Art Expo in New York, Art Asia, Palm Springs (California)
to name a few.
Another
aspect of the Gallery`s work is the very direct collaboration with the
patronage of the Private Foundation Fradogo, bearing in mind the original
goals in line with their founders FRADOGO and Bartolomé Cerro Gutierrez
intentions.
